WONDERFUL RARE paisley chintz transferware tea cup and saucer from RADFORDS.  The persimmon burnt orange color paisely is enchanced with yellow and black detailing. The transferware shows signs of lifting in a few areas, especially the inside base of the tea cup and one area of the inside crease of the saucer.  There is also slight crazing on the underside of the footed tea cup and at the lip edge of the tea cup.  There is transfer overlap on the cup which gives this piece its authenticity.  The backstamp on this set is dated from 1938-1957.  The pattern number is 8554/B and artist initial N.  The tea cup measures 2 1/2" high and 4 1/2" across.  The saucer measures 5 1/2" across.
