Aynsley and Sons, Ltd, Longton, Staffordshire 1864-1971 manufactured Aynsley bone china. The company was first built by John Aynsley 1861, and was called Portland Works, in Sutherland Road, Longton. John Aynsley passed away in 1907. His company continued to prosper and was part of the Waterford Glass Company, and then the Anysley Group PLC in 1987. At this time the company had grown large enough to purchase names and patterns from other companies such as Hammersley China Ltd. The crown markings on the cups and saucers produced after 1904 are different from the printed marks.
