FABULOUS floral art deco style from PHOENIX BONE CHINA. This gorgeous sping tea cup and saucer has a date stamp that was used by Thomas Forester & Sons who owned Phoenix Works, Longton from 1877 to 1959. The date stamp used on this set was used from 1912-1959, and this set is possibly circa 1925, from the presence of the Made in England wording. Phoenix of Longton was known for its variety and high quality of porcelain items. Floral bouquets were one of their specialties. The cup measures 2 3/4" high and 3 1/2" wide. The saucer is 5 1/2" wide with a smooth round edge. Both pieces are in good condition, with minor porcelain bubbles on the saucer center and inside the cup - a process of manufacturing. A wonderful hand painted set! |
