Fabulous! These two brooches are in almost perfect condition given their age. They each measure 1 inch across at the base and 3/4 inches tall. Both have working c-clasp closures. The back is a heavy brass type fitting. There is some age discoloration on the back - please see photos. The pharaoh's two faces are held in by 4 claws.
I'm not sure what they are made of either, maybe celluloid? bakelite? - really not sure - but they are heavy brooches for their size.
The faces appear to have been painted or laquered with cream, green and brown colors. Please see photos below as they show the craved rough edge where the painting is not complete. |
